Lucca Walken

Lucca has come a long way since the day that she left to find Train. When she first left on her search for the man she'd come to think of as an older brother of sorts, she was still pretty shy. She was soft spoken and gentle, often hiding behind the people she knew when approached by someone unfamiliar.

By no means was she completely harmless, but she was far from experienced enough to handle bounties on her own. She always assisted the others or took on small jobs that she'd be able to manage on her own while she was still young. As she travelled with everyone, she eventually improved and became much more confident in her skills. Though she was still young, she knew how to use a gun fairly well due to the self defense training she'd gone through growing up. Over the course of their travels, she started to break out of her shell a bit more and become who she is now.

Who she was when she was 12 is not necessarily important to how she acts now, but it's more or less a testament to just how much she really grown up and improved. In fact, if Lucca had to think about how she was as a child, she finds it a bit cringeworthy.

These days Lucca has grown to become quite a bit more confident as well as stubborn. Her goal in life is to surpass Train in terms of skill and abilities through a variety of ways (aiming, agility, problem solving, you name it.) She's well aware of the fact that she has a long way to go before she will ever be able to honestly say she can beat Train in a fair fight (fair meaning Train is not intentionally holding back to let her win a few fights), but she aims to slowly become better day after day and eventually hit that bench mark. If she can beat Train in a fair fight, she can take on anybody with ease.

Overall, she has become a lot more outgoing and usually pretty cheerful. She would much rather keep in good spirits than to be angry about everything. As a result, she tends to be pretty friendly making it easy for her to make new friends. Train may have rubbed off on her a little over time, but she tends to be carefree in nature unless it involves something important to her. She's not adverse to dropping her cheerful personality to become more serious when the situation demands for it.

Having Train as a role model and a brother figure, she's become that much more determined to always improve herself, no matter what area in her life that involves. She's gotten to be a lot more outgoing and talkative compared to who she used to be as she went into her teen years. With new found confidence and training came self improvement. She has no problems taking on bounties on her own anymore and she can even take down bigger treats than her due to her training.

Unfortunately this does make her more reckless than ever and even cocky at times. Knowing that her aim is pretty spot on and being knowledgable in various subjects useful for Sweepers, she tends to put herself out there more than she probably should. Perhaps Train has rubbed off on her or it was her own personality that's to blame, but she's prone to shit talk while in fights. Brushing off serious situations to lighten the mood when it probably shouldn't be so easily dismissed, for example.

After growing up in a dangerous childhood and getting her Sweeper license, she has taken a liking to fighting. That's not to say that she will pick fights left and right for no good reason, but it does mean violence does become more prevalent; She will never pick a fight without a good reason. She knows the Sweeper life is not exactly glamorous and with friends like Train, money for food and a nice hotel to stay at is not something they get to experience that often. There are times that they won't have much for food and have to live off of cups of ramen noodles for days if they even have enough to feel full from them. There are plenty of bills and things to have to pay for to get by in day-to-day life, but she wouldn't trade her life for nothing.

When she thinks about how it would be to hold a normal job that society generally goes for, it bores her and she would be unable to stay still for long enough to do well in that kind of environment. Not having much money after all of their expenses means that working nearly every day is a must to get by in life. Still knowing that, she loves the idea that she can do what she's best at and help save innocent lives that could have otherwise being lost. What's better than doing what you're good at and getting paid for it? All she wants is to be able to protect those innocent lives that would not be able to protect themselves.

That line of thinking leads to her distrust in authority figures. A major reason as to why she generally dislikes them is because of her experiences with Chronos. Seeing how corrupt and twisted their motives are, she would rather take matters into her own hands. Dealing with Taoists meant dealing with supernatural powers that normal police would be unable to deal with properly. In order to keep them from dying, Sweepers take on the task to bring in these criminals instead. Though she holds nothing directly against the police force, she also feels that due to the fact that most of them can't handle what they do... That makes them useless and overall pointless. She'll entrust the law system to judge and sentence the bounties they catch, but not enough to catch them themselves. The way she sees it, it's the Sweepers who keep the streets safe. While some Sweepers are only in it for the money and don't care about saving lives, there are plenty who do care.

She is stubborn natured and very blunt. She's not afraid to speak her mind, though she'll hold off when she feels that it's not the right time for the topic. Because of her determination and views on life, she's extremely stubborn and it's hard to change her mind when she set her mind to something. If she feels a cause is important enough, she will through everything that she has into it. Even if she has to crawl out of a hospital bed to finish a fight that she feels is important enough, she will do it. Her friends who realize this are thankfully aware and do hold her back, but she does push herself until she has nothing left. She knows her limits, but she also knows that she can't sit back and do nothing.

One big thing that Lucca believes in is that the best way to atone for the bad things a criminal has done is to make them have to live with what they've done for the rest of their lives in a jail cell. She knows that not every criminal out there will come to and maybe they were never change their thinking, but real punishment is making them have to live with their choices for the rest of their life. Some criminals won't be swayed, but there are some that will break over time. Killing a criminal or having them kill themselves is just an easy way out where they don't have to think about what they've done. It's almost more justice -- in her own opinion -- if they are forced to think about it. That said, she doesn't take well to killers. There is always another way around a situation.

Lucca is a pretty normal human girl. She has developed strong overall fighting skills that gives her an edge on her enemies (depending on the situation). As I noted before, she's pretty knowledgable when it comes down to what it means to be a Sweeper at this point. As cocky and reckless as she seems, she actually does think about her actions (usually) before she does them. She's quick to assess a situation and come up with a solution on the fly.

Karl started to teach her how to use a gun since she was young due to the dangerous environment that she grew up in. Having ties to Chronos meant that it wasn't always safe. When she turned 6, he began to teach her how to use a gun for self-defense purposes only. It was young, but he wanted to ensure that she would be able to defend herself if a situation were to ever arise that put her in a tough situation. Once Train arrived, he had eventually taken over for Karl in teaching her. As a result, she's pretty well adjusted to how to use firearms over the years.

There are skills she picked up along the way like how to use trajectory to do trick shots and overall anatomy knowledge for the sake of knowing what could kill a person or just down a person. She has a strict "No Killing" way of thinking, so killing anyone is out of the question unless she absolutely has to. She's seen enough death and believes there are better ways to deal with situations than simply giving a criminal an "easy way out". Knowing what potential areas on a human could kill or not is very important for that reason.

Though she was trained on how to use a gun, she is well aware that there's a very real possibility that there will be times that she won't have a gun available to use. May it be because she was disarmed, taken hostage or something of the sort, or simply doesn't have her guns on her at the time, she doesn't want to be completely useless and overall reliant on her guns. In order to make sure she can still fight under any circumstances, she also keeps up on her physical training and agility to stay alive just as much as her other training. She has become pretty agile and has a general awareness of what's going on around her.

She takes advantage of the fact that she looks like a small, teenage girl who seems harmless enough. In fact, she actually enjoys when people underestimates what she can do because she feels that it gives her an advantage in a fight. Being small and agile means that she can move around faster as well.

While it's no supernatural ability like Taoism or nanotechnology, Lucca has also developed a stronger pain threshold. There's nothing enhancing how she performs, rather it comes from a state of mind that she has. She has a mentality saying that if she worried about every injury she ever got while in a fight, she'd never be able to do her job. If she can't hold her own in a fight, what good would she be. Instead of focusing on how something hurts, she tries to put it out of sight out of mind. By doing so she's become more numb to pain over the years, making her able to take more damage before being forced to stop.

That said, that does not mean that she does not feel the pain. She does still feel the pain, but she just doesn't try to linger on it. Fueled by persistence and stubbornness, she refuses to let that stop her in a fight. A broken bone is still a broken bone and blood loss is still blood loss. No matter how strong she is or resilient, enough blood loss will still kill her if she doesn't tend to her injuries in time.
